Scholarships for Nurses

ACNL offers various scholarships to support nurses and nursing students in pursuing higher education, advancing nursing knowledge, and completing pre-licensure requirements. These scholarships are awarded at ACNL’s Annual Conference in February. See below for more details and application links.



Medical Surgical Nursing Consortium - Med/Surg Certification Scholarships

The Med Surg conference was started by a group of nurse educators who wanted to unite the community around excellence in nursing care. The Medical Surgical Consortium wants to give back and continue to help mold the future of nursing for years to come. We seek nurses who are innovators and leaders. We want to inspire nurses to keep foundational principles of med surg nursing in the forefront of their practice.

Pamela Jane Nye Operation Scrubs New Entrepreneurial Nurse Scholarships

The Pamela Jane Nye Operation Scrubs (OPi) New Entrepreneurial Nurse Scholarship Award is a collaborative with the Association of California Nurse Leaders (ACNL). This grant money has a mission to educate and honor the advancement of nurse leaders entering the field of nurses in business. Scholarships are awarded to working nurses interested in entrepreneurial work as evidence of advancing his/her career to promote healthcare products and/or services to hospitals, colleges, communities, and/or other nurses, as consultants, coaches, advisors or inventors.

ACNL Scholarships

ACNL awards scholarships to support registered nurse in expanding their leadership acumen through advanced study, pursuing higher degrees to meet community or organizational needs, and advancing nursing knowledge through research conduct and dissemination. ACNL membership is not required to apply.


Eligibility:

  • Must be a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Enrolled at least halftime in a course of study
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater
  • Previous ACNL scholarship recipients are not eligible


Application Requirements:

  • Copy of active RN license (any state)
  • School transcripts with evidence of cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Personal statement (not to exceed 500 words)

Two completed recommendation letter forms (from supervisor and school)

Pre-licensure Scholarships for Student Nurses

ACNL provides scholarships to support graduating student nurses in completing their pre-licensure requirements. Scholarships are awarded to student nurses who have graduated from an accredited program and are in the process of applying for the NCLEX exam.

Selection is determined through a committee process and is based upon the applicant meeting eligibility criteria, completion of the application documents, and available funds.


Eligibility:

  • Successfully graduated from an accredited nursing program
  • Proof of completing graduation requirements or Authorization to Test (ATT)
  • Demonstrate financial need


Application Requirements:

  • Proof of completing graduation requirements or Authorization to Test (ATT)
  • Personal statement (not to exceed 500 words)
  • Recommendation form completed by a professor

Nurses' Float Scholarship

The Nurses’ Float Scholarship Fund, administered by ACNL, was created from the funds remaining after the Nurses’ Float appeared in the 2013 Rose Parade. This academic scholarship supports registered nurses pursuing either an ADN to BSN or BSN to MSN degree.


Scholarship Choices:

  • ADN to BSN Candidate: $5,000 scholarship for candidates with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • BSN to MSN Candidate: $5,000 scholarship for candidates with a minimum GPA of 3.0.


Application Requirements:

  • Candidate letter (500 words) discussing career goals, contributions to nursing, collaboration, risk-taking, and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Transcripts indicating a GPA of at least 3.0
  • Recommendation letter from a current collegial or administrative contact.
